We’re extremely pumped and proud of our 3D Unity programmer Nikola Seletković who will be presenting the topic “Overlapping augmented reality and the real world in data center environments“ at the prestigious Advanced Technology Days Conference on November 30 at Arena Zagreb.
Nikola is excited to share his experience and present the difficulties he’s encountered and how he solved them when developing a system for navigation and data visualization in data centers.
Numerous challenges when implementing AR in a real-world data center environment
Nikola will be addressing one of the biggest challenges of AR applications: realizing that a hologram actually “stands” in the place where it is placed.
This problem is not so pronounced when it is intended for a smaller room but the situation changes when that room is actually a data center. A hologram placed in a certain position will not be in that place after passing through the entire data center.
Another challenge is maintaining a single location of a hologram across different sessions and across different devices. Without it, collaborative experiences would be impossible.
In the case that Nikola works on, the positioning of the 3D room model in the data center would have to be done manually every time the application is launched – which minimizes accuracy and applicability.
Fortunately, there is a solution. Using the technologies Azure Spatial Anchors and World Locking Tools helped immensely, and in this lecture, he will present the difficulties encountered and how they were solved while developing a system for navigation and data visualization in data centers.

Nikola is currently studying for a graduate degree in computer science at FER and works as a 3D Unity programmer at Inceptum d.o.o. There, he leads projects related to augmented reality technology such as systems for navigation and data visualization in space and systems for remote support.
