DataBox transforms its data center operations management with FNT DCIM and UMBOSS

DataBox and Inceptum implement new DCIM solution backed up by a Network and Service Assurance platform.

DataBox, Croatia’s fastest growing data center services provider, reached the point of no return with regards to their success. Thanks to the accelerated growth of new customers requesting collocation services, IaaS and hybrid cloud solutions, there was a need to manage data center and telecom network infrastructure in such a way to preserve the traditional efficiency of a smaller service provider.

In cooperation with Inceptum’s OSS consultants and STORM Computers’ engineers, DataBox devised a plan to improve their operations efficiency by introducing a Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution backed up by a Network and Service Assurance platform. Upon consultation, DataBox decided to engage two technologies:

  • FNT Software’s Command – Data Center Infrastructure Management solution and
  • Inceptum’s UMBOSS – Network and Service Assurance platform.

Initially, the two technologies went through a rigorous pilot project probing only to prove their efficiency in daily operations. Now in production, benefits have proved to be many. There is a single inventory that covers both data center and telecom infrastructure. The inventories are being regularly reconciled with data discovered using automatic discovery. Fault management and performance management consolidates all the alarms and performance data which are enriched with inventory and other BSS data.

By using the UMBOSS Portal, NOC engineers quickly localize any network and data center issues that occur and start troubleshooting, enjoying all the benefits of integrated 360° single pane of glass data visualization. Management and daily operational reports are no longer a pain point as reporting is easy and automated.

This project was a win-win situation for both Inceptum and DataBox because they had one thing in mind from the very beginning of its inception – service excellence. It starts with people that have been sieved through organizational mindsets that strive towards providing excellence in customer service.

However, it’s tough to make miracles happen if proper OSS support is not in place. This is precisely what Inceptum is all about and the reason for such successful cooperation.
